Hey everyone!
I recently finished my B.A. in Accounting, and I am thinking of becoming an Accounting Lecturer in the near future. I originally started as a Tax Associate but didn’t like it that much because of the hours. However, I will go back into the profession and get the experience I need in order get a teaching position at universities or community colleges. My questions are:
1. I know a PhD is not necessary, but will it be A LOT more difficult to find an accounting lecturer position if I dont have one but rather just a Master or MBA?
2. Also, how many years of experience should I get? I am trying to work in Tax the LEAST possible time.
3. What is the average salary of an Accounting Lecturer?
Thanks in advance!

So here’s my story….I have a B.A. in Design and Merchandising and I’m one semester away from receiving my MBA w/ a concentration in International Business. I have been applying for at minimum 200 jobs per month for the past 6 months and have had zero luck. The only call backs I get are commission based positions, life insurance companies and scams. Currently I am temping as a Receptionist making what I did in high school and there isn’t an ounce of growth with the position.
I had my resume looked over and prepared by a professional. I have great references, I have experience in admin, customer service and did an internship with a large media company still, I’m not getting any good responses. I live in D.C. so there is plenty of opportunity. Ultimately my goal is to work for the government but for now I’m looking for something that can put me on the path to get there.
I’m growing frustrated but not discouraged. I’ve reached out to friends and family to get tips on job with no luck. The temp position I’m in now doesn’t allow me any time away from the office AT ALL during the week so I have to pick and choose the interviews I go on carefully because leaving for an interview could result in me losing the job. I need so advice, what can I do to find a great job w/ benefits soon!
